From my earliest memories, I have felt a close connection to Source. When I was very young, this felt like being supported by an unknown presence. As I grew up in the Methodist church, I came to know this presence as God. 

Even as a young teenager though, I knew that this connection had nothing to do with religion. I came to experience it more as people who loved and cared for me, just for who I was. Like most people though, in my late teens the ego began to take control. I decided there was no future in a life of faith, I needed to buckle down, get a good a good education, a good job and start making money.

In a lot of ways I was successful at this. By all measures, in my late twenties into early thirties, I was ahead of my peers when it came to money, success and status, but I was not all that happy. 

Luckily for me, The Divine intervened to start a course correction. I was downsized from my job of 10 years at AT&T, an engagement was broken off, a new business failed, and I was fired from a new job after only 6 months. 

This all happened within the span of a couple of years. I came to the realization that all of my striving for success had not brought internal happiness, and that life can change in a hurry. 

All of the things I had been told would lead to a happy life; did not.All of the losses and struggles that followed afterward, made me realize I needed to re-examine all of the beliefs I had grown up with. 

More than 30 years later, I am still in a process of opening my mind to the Divine Infinite Intelligence of which we are all part. My natural curiosity has led me to explore, what really makes people feel happy and fulfilled.
